Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book and still learned many things even though I've been working in China for 8 years. The book gives many practical examples of experiences from business people working with the Chinese. I recognized myself in many of them. I finished it in one reading during a flight! Really well researched. Full of valuable advice. You will not regret your choice!
This book explains and illustrates the arcane concept of "Face", something Westerners struggle with even after years of living in China. While useful and practical, "Saving Face in China" also manages to entertain and amuse. The author has a keen eye for human nature as well as a good sense of humour. It describes the pitfalls of East-West communication, without ever being patronising or disrespectful to either side. This book is highly recommended for anyone living in China or doing business with the Chinese, but would also be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in Chinese culture.
I wished this had been written before I moved to China in 2004! It is full of great advice and interesting stories on doing business in China ... I experienced many of the same situations myself. Should be required reading for ANYONE travelling to China. Highly recommended!

It has humorous real life situations that can help anyone who is traveling in China and is not familiar with saving face in China. This is an important book for Travel Agents to add to the recommended reading list for their clients before getting on the flight to China.I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Saving Face in China" and realized that I could have used the information on my many trips to China.
